- At their April meeting, the Alliance Board accepted with appreciation a $100,000 grant from the Hultquist Foundation, which will be used to support the Chautauqua Lake Partnership’s 2026 herbicide program.
- The Board also authorized a resolution to be sent to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation urging them to provide proactive and timely leadership in addressing Chautauqua Lake management issues.
- The Board congratulated the Chautauqua Lake Partnership for their New York State Invasive Species Grant Program award, which will involve research by North Carolina State University to evaluate ecological trends and optimize invasive species management on the lake.

- The Alliance’s annual May Member meeting will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, May 14 at The Lawson Center at 73 Lakeside Drive in Bemus Point. - Spring work on the lake is imminent, or already underway. Thank you to the Chautauqua Lake Association and Chautauqua Lake Partnership for their efforts and for coordinating activities to increase their overall impact in 2026. CLA crews hit the water in April for their spring large debris cleanup, making the lake safer for boaters. CLA and CLP are also making final preparations for the management of the lake’s early growing invasive plant curly-leaf pondweed with CLA-led harvesting and CLP-led herbicide treatments expected soon.
