Planning and Prioritization

Management within the lake and watershed is informed by a number of key guidance documents.

 

Documents such as the 2010 Chautauqua Lake Watershed Management Plan, 2012 Total Maximum Daily Load for Phosphorus in Chautauqua Lake (TMDL), and 2017 Macrophyte Management Strategy (MMS) form a framework of planning and prioritization for stakeholders. These resources cover topics including best management practices, strategies, monitoring, permitting, laws and regulations, among others.

The Village of Lakewood and Town of Busti Stormwater
Management Engineering Study
evaluates existing conditions and develops recommended improvements to address impacts of stormwater flow on the water quality of Chautauqua Lake.

The Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Action Plan seeks to identify factors contributing to HABs in Chautauqua Lake and identifies actions that could be taken to address HABs.
