Management within the lake and watershed is informed by a number of key guidance documents.
Documents such as the 2010 Chautauqua Lake Watershed Management Plan, 2012 Total Maximum Daily Load for Phosphorus in Chautauqua Lake (TMDL), and 2017 Macrophyte Management Strategy (MMS) form a framework of planning and prioritization for stakeholders.
