Recent

  • Integrated Lakes Management returned to Prendergast Point in July to resume diver-assisted suction harvesting of invasive starry stonewort, as part of two NYS Invasive Species grants secured for work in the Towns of Chautauqua and North Harmony. DASH crews are working alongside CLA equipment and Town of Chautauqua Mobitracs, and will also be performing work at Ashville Bay this year.
  • The Alliance approved funding to expand starry stonewort applied research being done by the Everwild Land Trust. Everwild is in the process of growing the invasive algae in mesocosms in order to study its growth cycle and assess the effectiveness of different management techniques.
  • The Chautauqua Lake Association hosted its Annual Meeting at the Lakewood Yacht Club on July 25, updating the public on 2026 activity.

Upcoming

  • The Alliance will host a free Chautauqua Lake Public Information Session on Tue 8/18/26 at 5 PM at The Village Casino in Bemus Point. Members of the Alliance Board of Directors will be joined by representatives from DEC Region 9 and GEI Consultants (lake management consultant for the Alliance) for a panel discussion. Contact us with any questions.
  • CLA will host its Denim and Diamonds Gala Fundraiser on Tue 8/18/26 at 6 PM at Ellicottville Brewing Company in Bemus. Visit Denim & Diamonds Gala – Chautauqua Lake Association (CLA) for more info and to reserve tickets.
  • The Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Festival will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 8:45 AM at Lucille Ball Memorial Park, in Celoron. This annual paddling event and community fundraiser supports organizations that care for Chautauqua Lake.
